So much to read, so little time... You may find yourself reading in a different way - more quickly, less thoroughly - because of the sheer volume of information that's out there in social media land. Then, when you need to concentrate on something more in depth, you find you have a shorter attention span than you used to and can't quite kick the habit of simply scanning information rather than reading to understand. A solution could be to take regular breaks from social media to give your brain a rest.
Neglecting relationships and responsibilities
It has been said that social media has made us more connected on a global level, but less so on a personal one. If you're online all the time, there's a good chance you are neglecting some of the stuff that's right in front of you - friends, family, chores, etc. You could try limiting the time you spend on social media - your relationships and responsibilities matter too!
Lack of focus and productivity
If your job requires you to be online a lot, it can be very tempting to network instead of work. Social media sites can make you less productive and efficient by tiring your brain, diluting your focus, and hijacking your work routine. Set priorities (and put social media way down on the list) if you want to achieve something at work - unless of course your job relates to social networking!
